1. Forget the past – You might have tried many times in the past and failed to lose weight. This must have caused you immense frustration. But don’t let the past failures make you disheartened. Don’t assume that since you failed a lot of times previously, you can never achieve your dream weight. Instead of becoming discouraged, learn from the failures so that you can make a better effort this time. Identify the mistakes you made earlier and come up with a plan to avoid those mistakes again.
2. Setting realistic goals – It was probably after many years of unhealthy eating or overeating that you became overweight. Since it took you a long time to become overweight, it is unlikely that you will become slim again in a short period of time. You should try to lose weight slowly and steadily. Losing drastic amounts of weight in a short period of time is not a good idea. It is very important to set realistic goals which you can easily achieve. Even if you have to lose a lot of weight, try to do it in small, easily manageable steps. For example, if you want to lose 20 pounds, try doing so 5 pounds at a time.
3. Replace unhealthy foods – Instead of just removing unhealthy foods from your diet, replace them with something healthier. There are some things you can do to stop overeating. First of all, drink a glass of water before your meals. This will fill up your stomach a little so that you can eat less. Even during other times of the day, whenever you want to eat something, try drinking a glass of water and wait for few minutes. Many times you will find the urge to eat will diminish. This is because a lot of times our bodies confuse thirst for hunger. Eating an apple before meals is another excellent technique to reduce overeating.
5. Include fat burning foods in diet – There are many foods which are known to assist fat burning and can help in increasing the body’s metabolism rate. Try to include at least one or two fat burning foods in each of your meals.
6. Wake up early – This may seem surprising but getting up early can be beneficial to your health and also help in losing weight. By waking up early, you will allow your body to flush out toxins through urine and bowels at an optimal time of the day.
7. Turn off your TV – If you observe those people who spend hours daily watching TV, you will find that most of them are overweight. The reason is that watching TV for long periods can make you lazy.
